Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Lawmaker representing Lagos Central District has said there is the need to address drug abuse among the youth.

The wife of the national leader of the All Progressive Congress ,APC, called on stakeholders to reverse the statistics that showed that a good percentage of Nigerian youths abuse recreational drugs, including marijuana and codeine.

Tinubu, in a statement on Monday, spoke during the inauguration of a drug rehabilitation and skill acquisition centre she built as part of her constituency projects in the Ajah area of Lagos.

She said the project was facilitated through her 2012 Constituency Intervention Project to address the menace of drug abuse on the youth.

Tinubu praised Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for his maturity, saying posterity would judge him right for his achievements.

Ambode, in turn, commended the senator for devoting constituency funds to projects that would benefit residents.

He described Mrs. Tinubu as the only senator consistent with quarterly town hall engagements with people in her constituency.

“If I call her a dogged fighter, I will not be wrong. The mere fact that she spent two terms in the Senate and she has been able to bring more constituency projects than any other senator, it’s a confirmation of how she fights for her community,” he said.
