The post-surgery care that Tennis Star, Andy Murray is receiving, has drew strong reactions from concerned doctors

Murray recently underwent hip resurfacing surgery, and he has expressed concerns that his career might be over as a result.

He had the procedure on Tuesday, January 29, after which he posted his post-surgery photograph on his Instagram page.

Murray explained the photograph: “I underwent a hip resurfacing surgery in London yesterday morning (Tuesday, January 29) …feeling a bit battered and bruised just now, but hopefully that will be the end of my hip pain.

“I now have a metal hip and I look like I’ve got a bit of a gut …”

What appeared to be a regular interactive discourse between Murray and his 1.6 million IG followers, however, has divided doctors in Britain and the United States.

According to The Telegraph, the Association for Vascular Access, a trade body for clinicians specialising in the medical use of tubes, has expressed concerns about the placement of IV drips and dressings on Murray’s arm.

AVA suggested that the British former Wimbledon champion could potentially be in danger, warning that “50 people die every day in America as a result of complications related to hospital tubes.”

The association also condemned the visible blood in the IV tube, and the fact that Murray’s arm was not shaved before the tubing.

It also noted that, ideally, the blood pressure cuff should be on the IV-free arm.

A consultant in intensive and pre-hospital care, however seems to have also faulted AVA’s observation and has gone on to illustrate how the tubing should have been done.

While the consultant expresses hope that Andy Murray’s post-surgery treatment does not kill him, it has been reported that the procedure — the second on his hip — will mean Murray is likely to miss Wimbledon this year.
