Middlesbrough have completed the signing contract with Nigerian international midfielder and Captain John Obi Mikel.

The former Chelsea star has joined as a free agent after leaving Chinese side Tianjin Teda by mutual consent earlier this month.

He’s arrived on a short-term deal and will wear the No.2 shirt.

Tony Pulis’ side sit fifth in the Championship table after 28 matches, seven points behind leaders Leeds United.

“I’m pleased to get him in. He is a man with a lot of experience and quality.

“He has a winning mentality and he wants to be a part of what we are looking to achieve,” said Boro boss Tony Pulis
