President Muhammadu Buhari while presenting the new minimum wage told the National Assembly that the stipulated N27,000 was based on the agreement between the government, organised labour and the private sector.

The tripartite committee had proposed a new N30,000 minimum wage in their report to Buhari.

The President said this in his letter to the legislature to seek its approval.

The Speaker, Mr Yakubu Dogara, who read the cover letter attached to an amendment bill at the plenary on Thursday, pointed out that the announced N30,000 wage for Federal Government workers in the lower cadre, was not reflected in the letter.
