Man, son remanded for allegedly rapping 9-yr-old girl

A 65-year-old man and his 19-year-old son have been remanded in prison for allegedly rapping a 9-year-old girl in Safana town of Katsina State.

Lawal Angala and his son Isa were arraigned before a Katsina senior magistrate’s court for the offence of rape contrary to Section 283 of the penal code.

According to police information report deposited at the court on the matter, the victim’s mother reported the matter at Safana Divisional police station which led to their arrest.

The accused persons were alleged to have lured the minor into their house where they allegedly raped her severally.

The magistrate adjourned the matter to January 24, 2019 and ordered that the accused persons be remanded in prison.

In a separate development, the police in Lagos have arrested a 58-year-old commercial motorcyclist, names withheld, for allegedly defiling his 14-year-old daughter.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr Edgal Imohimi, confirmed the arrest, yesterday, in Lagos while addressing newsmen on arrests made by the command.

“According to the victim, after her father, a security man and commercial motorcyclist had defiled her, she reported the case to her mother who did not believe her and warned her not to tell anybody.”

He said that the victim had been referred to Mirabel Centre for medical examination.
