Egypt has won a seat on the Board of Governors 2019 – 2021 of the World Water Council, as Chairman of the National Water Research Center (NWRC) Ramadan Khaled became member of the government organizations quota.

The board is composed of 35 members who are either appointed or elected, divided into five quotas, including inter-governmental, governmental, commercial, civil society, professional and academic organizations.

Khaled and six others were elected out of 12 candidates who were running for the seven seats in the governmental organizations quota.

The mission of the council is influencing decision-making processes, and policy-setting on water security, sustainability, and adaptation. The eighth World Water Forum, co-organized by the council, took place in March in Brazil.
