African Economic Conference to hold in Rwanda

The 2018 African Economic Conference with the theme "Regional and Continental Integration for Africa's Development" is scheduled to hold at the Marriott Hotel, Kigali. The conference which is jointly organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and the African Development Bank (AfDB) will kick off by December 3rd and run through to December 7th, 2018.

Conference will be provide clear policy guidance based on research and best practices for a stronger partnership for faster integration in all its dimensions. It will equally provide an avenue for policymakers, researchers, and development practitioners to deliberate and proffer solutions for continental integration.

Discussions would focus on infrastructure and institution for Africa’s integration, leveraging private sector for Africa’s integration, conceptual underpinning of Africa’s integration and partnerships for effective integration to provide innovative solutions to challenges of Africa’s regional and continental integration.

Dignitaries expected at the conference include President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, Vice-President, of Malawi  Saulos Chilima, Commissioner for Economic Affairs, African Union Commission Prof. Victor Harison, UN Assistant Secretary-General and Regional Director for Africa, UNDP Ms. Ahunna Eziakonwa, Deputy Executive Secretary, UNECA Ms. Giovannie Biha, and Director General, East Africa Regional Development and Business Delivery Office, AfDB Mr. Gabriel Negatu.
