It was a moment of unquenchable joy as seat of Wisdom Catholic Church , University of Ibadan,  joins their counterparts in Nigeria  to celebrate feast of Christ the King in grand style.

The procession which started by 5:00pm was a colourful and attractive celebration as Rev. Fathers, Rev. sisters and different societies of the church, like Catholic Men Organization(C.M.O), Catholic Women Organization, (C.W.O), Nigeria Federation of Catholic Students, (NFCS), Legion of Mary, Flower girls and the hosts of others added to the glooming celebration with their various uniforms, music to showcase their loyalty to their King which is Jesus Christ.

Rev. Fr Ezekiel Owoeye, the parish priest and his assistant Rev. Fr. Paul Akitayo, led the catholic faithful of U.I to the nook and cranny of the institution, proclaiming as well as evangelizing Jesus Christ as the Universal King, using it as a moment to remind the community that Christ came to the world, suffered, died, and rose again for the salvation of mankind.

Also reminds the institution and world at large that Christ rode on a horse to enter Jerusalem as the King, thus the Church recognizes Him as the redeemer and King of the Universe.

There were a lot of side attractions, like little children dressed in white, who at every junction spray their flowers to the Holy Eucharist carried by the priest as a way of adoring the universal king.

The faithful also used both traditional and classical music, local, modern musical instruments, even clapping, shouting, dancing to proclaim Christ kingship, as the University community will not forget the celebration in a hurry.

Earlier, Rev. Fr. Owoeye enjoined the faithful to celebrate the Eucharist given to them by Christ at all times, as it is only in the Catholic church that one can get the full knowledge of Christ and satisfaction as a Christian.

Christ the King is celebrated every last Sunday of Ordinary time, according to the church calendar.

Worthy to note,  the procession  is meant to be observed in the month of June every year, but  due to the raining season in Nigeria, the Catholic Bishop conference of Nigeria shifted it to November.

In that sense, the Church celebrates feasts of Christ the King, to commemorate Christ’s historic and eventful stay on earth.
