A coalition of Civil Society Organizations, under the auspices of Citizens Action to Take Back Nigeria (CATBAN) has threatened to ground activities at the Ministry of Petroleum until the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Emmanuel IbeKachikwu, resigns from office following an alleged false claim on the class of his university degree.
The National Convener of CATBAN, Comrade Ibrahim Garba Wala, said yesterday in Abuja that reports of the minister’s alleged false claim to a first class degree in Law from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) was disturbing.
According to him, it is necessary for Kachikwu to face the implications if found guilty in order to boost public confidence in the federal government’s anti-corruption war.
“While we urge the federal government under President Muhammadu Buhari to look into the matter and dig deep to find out the truth, we shall shutdown the ministry to let the whole world know that the country cannot allow liars and crooks continue to hold sway,” Wala said.
