Mogaji (Dr.) Akin Fagbemi has been re-elected into the National governing council of the Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFST).

Fagbemi's emergence occurred at the ongoing National Conference and Annual General Meeting of the Institute taking place at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Libarary, Abeokuta. This year's conference was tagged "Innovations in Food Science and Technology for Sustainable Development".

Fagbemi's re-election has been attributed to his immense contributions to knowledge, institutional growth and development of the institute. It would be recalled that he had previously served as the Assistant National Secretary of the Institute.

Dr Fagbemi is expected to bring his expertise and resourcefulness to bear as he looks to build upon the recent successes recorded by the Institute.

The NIFST was established in 1976 as an umbrella body for food professionals from Industry, Government, Academia and Research organizations.
