The Federal Government has resolved to commence the project on university infrastructure estimated at N100billion as part of its effort to boost education and eradicate the sight of infrastructural decay in the universities.

CEOAFRICA news correspondent gathered this from the words of Governor Gabriel Suswam of Benue State who stated that President GoodLuck Jonathan is to flag off the projects by month end.

Gov. Suswam who is also the chairman of the Universities Needs Implementation Committee set up by the Federal Government to look into the issues raised by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), while updating the State House Correspondents in Abuja, revealed the projects are geared toward resolving the ASUU/FG crisis and ensuring adequate provision for the need of universities in the country.

He further said that universities across the six geopolitical zones will be selected for the flagging by Mr. President which take place by the first week of September, adding that at least each of the universities selected would get N1billion for its infrastructural reconstruction.

Speaking on the ongoing ASUU strike, he said that negotiation is on, stating that they will soon reach agreement that will put an end to the strike, in one or two weeks to come.
