Former Nigerian Army Commandant, John Gbor joins APGA presidential race

Major-General John Gbor, former Commandant in the Nigerian Army Education Corps, has joined the 2019 presidential race on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Recall that the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the party, had in August, 2018, said it would field a presidential candidate for the 2019 election.

The party, rising from a critical deliberation in Awka, Anambra State, zoned the presidential ticket to the north, while the south east is expected to produce the Vice Presidential candidate.

APGA National Chairman, Chief Victor Oye, who made this known to news men on Wednesday evening, also named an industrialist and oil magnate, Chief Jerry Chukwueke, as the running mate of the presidential aspirant for the 2019 elections.

Maj. Gen. Gbor hails from Katsina-Ala Local Government of Benue State.

According to Oye,” APGA has now gotten a presidential and vice presidential aspirants; it is no longer speculation. It is now a reality.

“Our presidential candidate will be formally unveiled as soon as our national convention is held. But they will be talking to the media from time to time”. Our presidential aspirant is a retired Major General of the Nigerian Army with a PhD from one of the Ivy colleges in the United States of America.

“Our Vice Presidential candidate is a technocrat, international businessman with many degrees in economic and business management”.

He said that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party was working hard to reposition the party’s affairs in order to improve the fortunes of the party.
