The Oyo State Police Command has warned politicians and their supporters to desist from all acts of violence or face the full wrath of the law.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Oyo state Police Public Relations Officers, Adekunle Ajisebutu on Tuesday.
According to the statement, 3 people were killed by a bodyguard attached to a Senatorial aspirant during Oranyan festival held in Oyo town on Saturday.
Oyo state Police command warned politicians and their supporters to henceforth desist from acts capable of disrupting law and order, urging them to carry out their political activities with propriety as the Police is prepared to come hard on defaulters.
He further warned politicians against arming their supporters and associates or encouraging them to use or be in possession of fire arms or dangerous weapon.
The commissioner of Police reiterated the earlier directives of the directives of the Inspector General of Police on proliferations of illegal arms and ammunitions across the country and the need to withdraw them from circulation.
He urged politicians, individuals or groups still in possession of such illegal lethal arms and ammunitions to summit them to the nearest Police stations without delay adding that there would severe consequences for erring individuals.
