Ad hoc staffers, who participated in the local government election conducted by Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission, OYSIEC, last month, have raised an alarm over alleged non-payment of their stipend by the commission.
The ad hoc staff, in a Save Our Soul letter to OYSEIC, Oyo state government and the Commissioner of Finance and Budget on Friday appealed to Governor Abiola Ajimobi, Mr Bimbo Adekanbi, the Commissioner of Finance and Budget, Mr Jide Ajeigbe, OYSIEC Chairman, to sit at a round table and resolve the issues and pay them accordingly.

They said, “This Government alongside OYSIEC Chairman has refused to pay people that worked through thick and thin during the Oyo State local government Elections. And yet all we hear is the Government has done so much and ordinary Adhoc Staff had to wait One month and 3 days before making this publication.

“The election went well and up until this publication is released today being the 15th of June, 2018 no dime has been paid by OYSIEC nor the Oyo state government as renumeration to all the Adhock staff in all the 33 local government of this state.
“We hereby use this ample opportunity to request for our due pay, as the work has been done by the Adhoc Staff and they are all entitled to get their fair rewards.”

However, Media Officer of the commission, Mr. Cosmas Oni, who confirmed that the ad hoc staff have not been paid, declared that the commission is working to ensure that they were paid hopefully by next week.

“The Chairman was with the Chief of Staff last week on this matter. They will be paid, I said hopefully by next week. The Governor has approved the money but, it has not been released by the Accountant’s office and the Finance department.”
