Oyo 2019: another crisis rocks PDP few days after celebrating Oyo by-election victory

Days after the Oyo state Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won the Ibarapa East Constituency by-election, bringing in Adebo Ogundoyin to fill the vacant seat of the late Oyo state speaker in the house of assembly, another crisis capable of weakening Oyo PDP ahead of 2019 general election plugs in.

The fresh crisis came after 6 names from the list of state  executive elected at the state congress late last year by the Uche Secodus led National working Committee (NWC) of the party were removed and replaced with other names.

However, the fresh additions into the state executive list are loyal members of a governorship aspirant Seyi Makinde, while those dropped were elected into the party from the amalgamation of Accord, Labour party and the Old PDP.

In the light of this, the Oyo state PDP Leader, Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja while speaking with CEOAfrica on Friday, said the party’s stakeholders had made its position known to the National Working Committee (NWC) of that party, adding that if the leadership of the party refused to act on time, the leaders and their followers may have no option than to leave. ‘‘What happened is called impunity and it is very wrong, that is why the stakeholders have asked the NWC to reverse the present position within 7 days.’’
