EFCC ARRAIGNED HDP PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE OVER ALLEGED N60M FRAUD

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has indicted the Presidential candidate of Hope Democratic Party (HDP), Ambrose Owuru at the Federal High Court, Port Harcourt for allegedly defrauding one Mr. Ikechukwu Eze of N60million.

CEOAFRICA new desk gathered that Mr. Ambrose Owuru has in Suit No: FHC/PH/151c/2013, been charge with offences relating to fraud, alteration and forgery of land documents, for defrauding Mr. Ikechukwu Eze of N60 million on the pretext of selling four plots of land located at Plot 44A, Amadi Layout, Port Harcourt.

Richard Ewor, the Counsel to the EFCC, revealed that Owuru in his bid to actualize his criminal action, altered a forged Certificate of Occupancy dated March 20, 1990, and Survey Plan also dated December 19, 1989, purportedly approved by the Rivers State Land and Survey.

According to the court rule however, Mr. Ambrose Owuru, by his offence, has contravened the Section 1(1) (A) of the Advanced Fee Fraud another Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006 which is punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act and Section 1(2)(c) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act CAP M17 of the Revised Edition (Laws of the Federation of Nigeria) 2007, punishable under section 1(2) of the same Act.

Moreover, Mr. Ambrose Owuru present in the court pleaded not guilty to the charges while Justice Aliu adjourned the case till 13 August due to failure of Owuru’s lawyer to produce a formal bail application
