Olympics and world 400m semi-finalist, Regina George will be the lone Nigerian in sight on Saturday at the Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena for the Sainsbury’s Indoor Grand Prix.
George has been one of the top performers of the on-going indoor season and has been listed for the 400m event which will be headlined by reigning (51.69) world leader in the event, Natasha Hastings of the USA.
The Nigerian who holds a personal season's best of 52.01 seconds which is also the fastest time run by an African so far this year will be hoping to outrun her American compatriot who has beaten her twice this year (Moscow and Boston).
Also listed for the quarter mile event are the British duo of Margaret Adeoye and Eilidh Child as well as Jamaica's Kaliese Spencer.
In the 60m, reigning world and Olympic champion in the 100m, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and double world silver medallist, Murielle Ahoure will go head-to-head again six months after the little Jamaican outran all comers to the 100m and 200m gold at the IAAF World Championships in Moscow,Russia.In the men’s version, British pride, James Dasaolu will take on athletes such as European indoor champion Jimmy Vicaut and former world 100m champion Kim Collins.
