Nigeria Expects Billions In Incomes From Port Project

Nigeria expects to earn over 560 billion dollars when the Lekki Deep port project becomes a reality by 2020, highlights today The Sun newspaper .
According to the issue, the allocation of the port, located in the southern city of Lagos, will generate 361 billion dollars and about 200 will come from taxes and direct revenues from operations.
When the project was presented, the Nigerian Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, revealed that over 170,000 direct and indirect jobs would be begetted from it.
Osinbajo added that the plans are to initially reach 1.5 million containers of 20 feet of capacity per year, to then reach 2.7 million and 4.7 million when the project begins operations.
Counting on this deed, Lekki Deep will be one of the largest deep sea ports in our region and will serve as a port hub throughout West Africa, he stressed.
In addition, the official added that when it starts to operate, the shipyard would receive the largest vessels, such as Panamax, post-Panamax ships and also huge crude carriers.
