Thousands from Oyo North Senatorial districts today benefited from Senator Abdulfatai Buhari’s economic empowerment scheme held at NYSC orientation camp in Iseyin.
The beneficiaries include traditional rulers, artisan, students, widows, religion organizations and communities drawn from the 13 local government areas of the Senatorial districts
Items distributed are 36 cars, 300 motorcycles, 300 sewing machines, over 400 grinding machines, 40 deep freezers, Generators and 13 electric transformers. The senator gave a sum of N20,000 each as bursary award to 200 students of tertiary institution and N25,00 each to 200 widows carefully selected across the Senatorial districts.
In his welcome address, Senator Buhari who is also the chairman Senate Committee on ICT and Cybercrime said, the empowerment program is to appreciate members of his constituency and support them for economic advancement.
He informed the assembly about his effort to facilitate infrastructural development such as: putting Ikere gorge dam in proper shape, rehabilitation of roads, establishment of University of Agriculture and Technology in Oke-Ogun and other projects that will bring economic development to Oyo North senatorial districts and the state
The All Progressives Congress APC lawmaker stated that, he has not been found wanting in his responsibility to his constituents and the development of Nigeria through meaningful contributions at the plenary and tendering issues that affects his constituency.
While reiterating his commitment to the development of his constituency and the state, the lawmaker called for patience and faith in President Muhammadu Buhari’s led government in his bid to restore sanity and progress into the nation.
The executive governor of Oyo state Senator Abiola Ajimobi while commending the lawmaker said “APC is lucky to have people with genuine interest to serve the masses, Senator Buhari is a true representative of Oyo North and It is not wrong to say that, Buhari is the best Senator in Oyo state, he has performed better than I do when I was at the Senate, he deserves to be commended for the good job.”
Speaking on political development in the state, the governor said the party will not impose any candidate for chairmanship in the local government primary election but, calls for understanding in careful selection of candidates in the forthcoming election by the APC
The Party Chairman in Oyo state, Chief Akin Oke, who led the party executives from both state and local government to the event, commended and appreciated the senator for keeping to his campaign promises. He also urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the materials.
One of the Beneficiaries, Oba Abdul Ganiyu Adekunle Ajinese Ologunebi , the Aseyin of Iseyin while speaking with journalists lauded the lawmaker for considering the traditional rulers and the masses in his gesture, he urged the lawmaker not to relent his effort concerning the development he promised the people.
Traditional rulers, religious leaders, federal and state lawmakers and party leaders were among the dignitaries that grace the event.
