The Chairman of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) , Oyo State Chapter and the presiding Bishop of Victory International Church, (VIC), Bishop Taiwo Adelakun has described insecurity as a song on the lips of every Nigerian.

Adelakun made this statement in an exclusive interview with CEOAfrica in his office, Rehoboth cathedral, Oluyole Ibadan saying “It is so unfortunate that the pressing issue today in Nigeria is insecurity and the government are not managing the situation well because the people in Benue state are internally displaced as a result of frequent attacks from the terrorists.”

He emphasized that the government has failed in carrying out their primary duty which is to provide adequate security for the citizen.

Bishop Adelakun explained that, the PFN society will be meeting with the Oyo state governor next week to deliberate on how to put an end to the action of the herdsmen who has moved down to the state.

He urged the president of the country to come out publicly to condemn and take preventive measures against the herdsmen who do not value the lives of fellow citizens.

The PFN chairman while responding to a question on what measures to be taken for Nigeria to be united again stated that President Buhari should visit victims of this crisis, he should address the citizens and he should mobilize the army to make sure that the territory of Nigeria is taken back from the terrorists.

The Younger Generation Should Take Over- Taiwo Adelakun

Bishop Adelakun emphasized the importance of youth involvement in politics as they are the leaders of tomorrow and the tomorrow is now because the old ones will keep doing things the same way.

He explained that, during the 2015 campaign, the All Progressive Congress (APC) party promised that Nigeria currency will be equal to a dollar, the pump price of petrol will be reduced to forty naira and there will be employment for three million Nigerians on annual basis. All these failed promises show that APC has not delivered.

The Chairman described the younger generation as agile and active individuals who can fix the problem of the country. He therefore appealed that the mantle of leadership be passed to the youth.

Coalition Movement for Nigeria

Bishop Taiwo said “If the third force that are planning to take over by 2019 is not the amalgamation of APC and PDP, then there is hope for Nigeria.”

He appealed to Nigerians to get their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) so that they can vote the candidate of their choice. He advised Nigerians not to sell their conscience during the election.

He also encouraged politicians to take up their responsibility as leadership is not just a mere title but an assignment which must be done.

 2019 Election Advice to Buhari

Bishop Taiwo Adelakun urges President Buhari to consider his health and consult his family before deciding to go for a second term as his health is paramount to good governance

Looking at this issue from the constitution, president Buhari has the right to go for a second term, even former President Olusegun Obasanjo went for a second term and also tried going for a third term, he said.

However, he advised the president to consider the state of his health, his age, as well as the decision of his family before deciding to contest for the 2019.
