British Prime Minister Theresa May has started her new year’s reshuffle in a bid to reassert her authority after the calamitous election result last summer.

May has also replaced the chairman of her Conservative Party, ahead of more ministerial changes expected later on Monday.

Junior immigration minister Brandon Lewis will take over the post from Patrick McLoughlin, whose departure had been anticipated following the party’s poor performance in a June general election.
