Oyo Guber 2019: Ajimobi’s Deputy, Adeyemo, joins race

Chief Moses Alake-Adeyemo, the Oyo State deputy governor on tuesday night surprised his boss, Governor Abiola Ajimobi, when he informed him of his intention to contest the 2019 governorship race.

Adeyemo, who many thought would retire after completing his second term as number two citizen, ‎is said to be leaving no stone unturned in his bid to actualise his ambition.

Ajimobi, insideoyo.com gathered, gave his blessings to the aspiration of his ‘loyal deputy’, promising to give necessary support.

Sources who are close to the Oorelope-born politician told insideoyo.com that “it was not that he was forced to join the race, he joined after consulting exhaustively ‎with major stakeholders, especially from Oke-ogun zone where he hails.”

For many years, the people of the 10 Okeogun local government areas have been agitating for their man to govern the state.

With Adeyemo’s entry into the race, the number of aspirants from the region has increased to five. Communications minister, Adebayo Shittu, Engr. Remi Olaniyan, Mr. Debo Adesina and Prof. Adeolu Akande, all of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, have earlier signified intention for Agodi site of power .

CEOAFRICA source further learnt that major stakeholders are behind the aspiration of Adeyemo, who is seen as ‘very clean’ and the most experienced for the job, having been deputy governor for a record two terms.

Though unconfirmed, sources said it was the Okeogun Development Consultative Forum‎, ODCF, the apex group for sons and daughters of the region that is behind the aspiration.

Meanwhile, Adeyemo would any moment from now set us his campaign team to meet with party leaders, major stakeholders in the society and other relevant groups so as to draw support for his ambition.
