Social media users have shared photos which portrayed the 93-year old leader of Zimbabwe quietly obeying the clear call of nature as he presided over a public event.

Robert Mugabe is still the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe as negotiations intensify for him to step down. Today, he was the guest of honour at a university graduation ceremony in Harare.

This was his first public appearance since he was put under house arrest by the army late Tuesday.

The Southern African country’s president of 37 years was pictured wearing a graduation gown and cap for the ceremony, at the Zimbabwe Open University. Images of him dozing off again at the event have circulated the media space.

Mugabe who has become fragile due to the toll of old age is not new to sleeping off at high profile events.

It should be recalled that the country’s military initiated a move to overthrow him after he sacked his VP with ulterior motive of handing over power to his wife Grace.
