Industrialisation: Osun to build power sub-station at N2billion

The State of Osun has earmarked N2billion to build power sub-stations to attract prospective industries into the state. The power clusters which are to be located in Dagbolu, in Osogbo will guarantee industries 12hours uninterrupted power supply. The Commissioner for Finance of the State, Dr Wale Bolorunduro disclosed this on Thursday while presenting a paper on "Improving Public Finance for Better Governance: The Example of the State of Osun" as the guest of the month of the Correspondent Chapel of the NUJ. Bolorunduro maintained that the government will drive employment of Osun people through local content policies by impressing it on foreign companies to employ Nigerians to work in their companies.

In education, the finance commissioner stated that the government spent N900million to produce 70,000 school uniforms for schools during which 3,000 indigenous tailors were employed Chinese investors.

The finance commissioner stated that the 'Opon-Imo' (Tablet of Knowledge) cost close to N3billion adding that efforts were on to improve the tablet to check its misuse among pupils. To minimise Malaria, Osun state is to fumigate the airspace to further bring down Malaria occurrence in the state.

According to him,  this will be done once the ecological and environment verification are completed He said Nigeria was not growing because more than 70 percent of the budget was in the recurrent while capital expenditure was relegated to the background. He further disclosed that the state government had embarked on the renovation of nine state-owned hospitals across the state
