The New Archbishop of Ibadan Archdiocese, His Grace Most Rev. Dr. Gabriel 'Leke Abegunrin

IBADAN ARCHDIOCESE SET TO WELCOME THE NEW ARCHBISHOP

NIGERIA (Oyo) -The new Archbishop Gabriel Ojeleke Abegunrin will take canonical possession of the Catholic Archdiocese of Ibadan on January 24th, 2014 at the SS. Peter and Paul Major Seminary, Bodija Ibadan during a solemn pontifical mass of the installation, as the incumbent, Archbishop Alaba Job attained 75 years of the canonical retirement age.

This was stated today by the Chairman of the Installation Planning Committee, Very Rev. Fr. Etaphemi, at the press briefing held at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cathedral, Oke-Padi, Ibadan, Oyo state.

According to the briefing, the new Archbishop will be received by the faithful of Ibadan on Wednesday 22nd, January, 2014, at the toll-gate Ibadan-Ife express way.

The Papal Nuncio, Archbishop Kasujja,  who is the representative of the Holy Father, Pope Francis in Nigeria, will be received by both the new Archbishop  Abegunrin  and outgoing Archbishop Alaba Job at the Alakia local Airport on Thursday 23rd, January, 2014while they will later proceed to the governor’s office  for a state visit by the Nuncio on the same day.

Very Rev. Fr. Felix Ethapemi also said that, the occasion will parades many dignitaries including state governors, senators, royal fathers and many dignitaries inside and outside the country and also, maximum security will be provided.
