CEOAFRICA gathered that men of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Delta had last Thursday destroyed over 3 million litres of crude oil being transported for sale at the high sea by some illegal oil refiners in Warri.

According to the report, Men of the NNS Delta were on a surveillance patrol of abandoned oil wells at Okukpene in Warri South Local Government Area of the state when they ran into 13 boats laden with crude oil.

The operation, which lasted for 10 hours, saw the discovery of the 13 Cotonou boats from two different locations which were subsequently set ablaze in line with extant laws guiding the operation.

Speaking at a press briefing during the weekend at the Naval Base in Warri, Commander, NNS Delta, Commodore Sidi-Alli Garba, disclosed that no arrest was made during the operation as the perpetrators fled the scene on sighting men of the Navy.

Garba frowned on the unrepentant stance of perpetrators of various crimes relating to crude oil in the South South, warning that men of the base would not relent until victory was won over all forms of illegalities and criminalities in his area of operation.
