The Nigeria Women U20 team, the Falconets is a step closer to the FIFA U-20 Women World Cup in Canada as they won their first leg of the qualifiers against Sierra Leone 10-0.

Four goals from first half substitute Uchechi Sunday, a brace from Halimatu Ayinde and Chidinma Edeji, one from Patience Okaeme have made the Sierra Leone dream of making it to the women’s World Cup almost impossible.

The Falconets opened scoring as early as the 11th minute through Halimat Ayinde, with Chidinma Edeji making it 2-0 in the 22nd minute while Halimat scored her second in the 25th minute.

Injured Bayelsa Queens ace, Yetunde Adeboyejo was replaced by Rivers Angels’ forward Sunday Uchechi who made an immediate impact with a brace, scoring one from open play in the 37th minute and the other just a minute later from the penalty spot after Winifred Eyebhiora was brought down in the penalty area.

The second half started strongly with the Falconets taking control of proceedings. Uchechi scored her third goal in the 52nd minute and her fourth six minutes later while Edeji made it eight after from an Uchechi assist.

Okaeme got the ninth goal in the 78th minute from a corner. Uchechi finished it off on the stroke of 90 minutes.

Sierra Leone will host the Falconets in two weeks’ time and as it is, have an uphill task on their hand if they ever hope to get the final of the FIFA 2014 Women World Cup in Canada.
