Nigerian Female U-17 Team Earns Automatic World Cup Qualification As South Sudan Withdraws

CEOAFRICA sports desk gathered that the opponent of the Nigerian Female U-17 National Team in the 2014 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifier has withdrawn from the game, meaning the Flamingoes have automatically qualified for the competition holding in Costa Rica.

The South Sudanese, who were expected to host the first leg of the encounter, disclosed their withdrawal from the championship, making Nigeria the first African team to qualify for the tournament.

Speaking about the development, the Nigeria Football Federation Scribe, Barrister Musa Amadu said it is better the team qualified earlier.

“The Nigeria Football Federation will ensure the team starts preparation early enough and very ready to do Nigeria proud,” he said.

The 2014 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup finals will be staged in San Jose, Alajuela, Liberia and Tibas.
