The sack of 670 workers of Mainstreet Bank Plc raises dust as the House of Representatives on Tuesday threatened to arrest the Bank’s Managing Director, Mrs. Faith Tuedor-Matthews for acting without regard to laid-down rules.

CEOAFRICA news desk gathered that the threat was issued by the Chairman, House Committee on banking and currency, Honourable Jones Onyereri against the bank boss over her failure to honour the committee’s invitation.

Hon. Jones however noted that the committee would have no option than issue a warrant of arrest against Mrs. Faith if she fails to appear before the committee by October2.

In the communiqué of the meeting, the Chairman read, “In the wisdom of members of this committee, the representative of the MD Mainstreet Bank is not able to give us all the information that we need to get to the root of this matter. We will postpone this meeting to the 2nd of October for the MD to appear before us and offer explanation on this issue if she fails to appear, we would be compelled to issue a bench warrant against her.”

Mr Eyo Usanga who spoke on behalf of the affected workers, however asked for the intervention of the House for “Payment of their terminal benefits (redundancy) according to collective agreements (i.e. 16 weeks of total emoluments on terminal grade per year multiplied by number of years spent by staff.
