6-Automobile armed robbery syndicate smashed. 7 vehicles recover

Oyo State Police Command has smashed six-inter-state automobile robbery syndicate which specializes in snatching posh cars.

The state Commissioner of Police Mohammed Indabawa while addressing newsmen in Ibadan on Tuesday said a total number of seven vehicles were recovered from the suspects.

 

According to him, after a protracted investigation into the case of automobile robbery syndicate in the state, the command smashed the robbery gang that had been given the residents of the sleepless nights.

He said sequel to a complaint in June that a gang of five armed robbers entered into a house in the night and took away an unregistered Toyota Camry saloon car valued N1.2million.

 

He gave the names of the suspects as Olalekan Olabimtan, Saheed Awoniyi, Adewale Kazeem, Tosin George a.k.a Olorunwa, Raphael Amuta and Morning Star.

The vehicles recovered from the suspects were Golf Volkswagen with registration number LSR 63 BG, 4matic Benz car number KSF 936 BH, Mazda bus number AP 943 XD,Toyota Camry number CH 500 JJJ, unregistered Toyota Camry, Toyota Dyna truck number MNY 252 XA, and LEXUS Jeep number AA 722 AKD.

 

The police explained that the arrest of Lekan led to the arrest if other suspects in Ibadan and Lagos. Speaking with newsmen, the suspects confessed to the crime, saying that one Tosin George was the gang leader.
