Borno State government would receive aids from United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) on primary health care in selected local government areas to fight mal-nutrition.

Disclosing this, Nigeria Country representative of UNICEF Miss Jean Gough said the organization had been following women and children related issues in the state.

While paying a courtesy call on Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State, Miss Gough said the organization is currently doing a survey in 23 states which include Borno. She also noted that the state was doing well in its fight against poverty and diseases, and this makes UNICEF to support the state.

“I was in Zamfara last week and the situation and number of children suffering from mal-nutrition is saddening. We are here only to give a helping hand and we would work with some staff of the ministry of health in Borno state and federal government to achieve that,” she noted.
