DANSA INDUSTRIES PLEDGES $36M ENERGY FOOD PLANT IN NIGERIA

Ancillary of Dangote Group, DANSA Industries has declared its intention to set up high energy food processing plant worth of $36 million in Nigeria.

CEOAFRICA has gathered that this food processing plant is intended to be the largest of its kind in Africa.

Minister of Agriculture, Akinwunmi Adesina who disclosed this at a press briefing said the President of Dansa Industries, Sanni Dangote has made the declaration in New York at a meeting of high Advisory Group comprising of global leaders.

Dr. Adewumi reiterated that the Agricultural sector is seriously being restructured for greater performance, noting that the future of Nigeria is not in oil but in agriculture.  

The agriculture minister also said the reforms in the agriculture sector in the country had already created 3.2 million jobs, adding that the fertilizer reforms had saved Nigeria about N25 billion in the distribution following the elimination of corruption in the process.

He recalled that before now, Nigeria was spending about $5 billion for the procurement of fertilizer even though only about 11 per cent of the farmers had access to the commodity.

He concluded however that the agriculture revolution had helped the Federal Government to reduce food bill by N800 billion, reiterating government’s intention to ensure self sufficiency in rice production by 2015.
