Nigeria Vice President Sambo condoles with Agagu's family

The Vice President, Namadi Sambo on Monday said that Nigeria will miss the former governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Agagu. Sambo who was at Ibadan residence of the former governor,describing him in glowing terms.“Nigeria will greatly miss Dr. Agagu .I pray God will grant him eternal peace and

continue to bless the family and grant them the fortitude to bear the loss”,

 declared the Vice President who defied the downpour in Ibadan to pay the condolence visit to the Agagu family.

 

The Vice President who was in white flowing robes (Agbada) arrived the late Agagu Ibadan residence at Old Bodija, few minutes before one in the afternoon in a black Toyota Jeep with Registration Number Kano DGW 129WWA, accompanied by other eminent personalities including Oyo Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, his Deputy, Moses Alake,former Governor, Adebayo Alao- Akala, Minister of state for Federal Capital Territory,Jumoke Akinjide, Senator Hosea Agboola,among others.

 

He had a brief session with the close family members of the late Governor and later handed them,a letter of condolence from President Goodluck Jonathan,before departing for Abuja at 1.15p.m. It was gathered that Dr. Agagu’s Ibadan residence had, prior to Vice President’s visit ,recorded  visits of no fewer than  two hundred personalities who  had commiserated with the family on his death.

 

Among whom are one time Transport Minister, Chief Ebenezer Babatope, University of Ibadan Vice Chancellor, Professor Isaac  Adewole, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal,  members of Peoples Democratic Party(PDP)Board of Trustees led by Chief Tony Anenih,among others.

Chief Ebenezer Babatope wrote in the condolence Register” Segun, May your memory remain blessed. You tried your best in serving Nigeria. We can never forget the services you rendered Papa Obafemi Awolowo and the UPN  in 1983 during the second Republic. Segun,I cherish your memory.”

 

The University of Ibadan Vice Chancellor equally wrote in the Register “We have lost a gem, an icon and a great leader, teacher, researcher and state man. May God keep those  he left behind well and safe.”

The Ibadan residence had been a beehive of activities which were mainly prayer sessions since the Ondo state former Governor passed on penultimate Friday at 65.
