Nigerian President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has approved the appointment of famous musician/actress, Onyeka Onwenu, as the new Executive Director, National Centre for Women Development.

The appointment was in recognition of her contributions to the development and promotion of positive image of Nigeria through her music.

She has released numerous albums in the Nigerian Music Industry, and musicians across Nigeria and Africa usually see her as a legend and a role model to them.

Her songs include One Love, Ekwe, Choices (Featuring King Sunny Ade), One Nation Under God, Onye Bu Nwannem, just to mention but few. She has also featured in many Nollywood movies.

Her appointment takes immediate effect.
