The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reviewed the sack of Adamawa and Ebonyi states party executives. The party decided to suspend the executive members instead

In a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh,  he said the review was in the light of the appeals and interventions of critical stakeholders together with the remorse demonstrated by the executives.

Accordingly, "The Caretaker Committees earlier set up for the party in Adamawa and Ebonyi states are recalled.

“The Deputy State Chairman of the Party in Adamawa State, Jingi Rufai is to serve as acting Chairman, while Fatai Ornah will be acting Secretary.

"In Ebonyi State, Onwe Joseph Onwe is to serve as acting Chairman and Simon Anyigor is to serve as acting Secretary.

"Furthermore the NWC has cancelled the ward congresses in Lagos, Cross River and Oyo states. Repeat ward congresses in the three states will hold on Monday, November 24, 2014.

"In the case of Cross River, all suspensions by the state chapter have been lifted and all members of the party in the state are now free to participate in all party activities including our congresses.”

Also the party has called for full investigation into the fracas that erupted at the House of Representatives.

PDP said, "In the light of accusations and counter accusations, over the unfortunate incident that led to the shutdown of the National Assembly on Thursday, the National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on the Inspector General of Police to institute full enquiry to unravel the circumstances and facts surrounding the development within the next 72 hours."

Metuh in a statement Friday said the “sanctity of the National Assembly as an arm of government and citadel of democracy must be upheld at all times, adding that the matter should not be shrouded in controversy, sinister plots and mundane accusations.

“Whilst we acknowledge that due to the security challenges in the country, the security agencies are within their constitutional powers to search individuals and ensure that only responsible and duly accredited persons gain entrance into the National Assembly complex, we wish to  state in strongest possible terms that the PDP is fully with the President in not condoning any act that might indicate that the police went beyond their bounds in the incident."

“The PDP is known for its unwavering stand in upholding the tenets of democracy. Our stand for justice, fairness, and equity at all times remains undiluted. In the same vein, President Goodluck Jonathan has been very humble and forthright in upholding these principles and rights of citizens. He has instituted free, fair and credible elections and remains unwavering that his ambition does not worth the blood of any Nigerian.

“We therefore believe that there is no need to shroud the development in controversy. In this regard, we call for a full investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident within the next 72 hours".

Nigerians deserve to know the truth at all times”, the party said.
