Nine lawmakers in the Ondo State House of Assembly have dissociated themselves from the move to impeach the Deputy Governor of the State, Honourable Agboola Ajayi.

The lawmakers, in a letter, addressed to the Speaker, Right Honourable David Oleyelogun, said they were abstaining from the impeachment process on personal convictions.

The lawmakers are Rt.Hon. Iroju Ogundeji (Deputy Speaker), Hon. Jamiu Sulaiman Maito, Hon. Rasheed Olalekan Elegbeleye, Hon. Tomide Leonard Akinribido and Hon. Samuel Edamisan Ademola.

Others are Hon. Favour Semilore Tomomewo, Hon. Festus Akingbaso, Hon. Adewale Williams Adewinle and Hon (Barr.) Torhukerhijo Success.

Though 14 lawmakers have signed the impeachment process against the deputy governor, a credible source said they needed one lawmaker from the nine loyal to Ajayi in order to effect the impeachment.

“They needed 15 lawmakers in order to carry out the impeachment. They have been lobbying the nine lawmakers with everything possible to get just one of them to their side but the nine lawmakers are resolute that they will not be a part of the process.”
