“You have 2 weeks to submit illegal possession of weapons or face a clamp down” – Ogun CP Ebrimson warns.

The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Police Command, CP Kenneth Ebrimson has today given a 2 week ultimatum to those in possession of illegal fire arms in the state to submit their arms peacefully without the command pressing charges on them, else they should get ready to face a clamp down if they refuse to comply.

Cp Ebrimson  made this statement during a press briefing at the Eleweran Police Headquarters where men of the underworld, and their weapons were arraigned before the press. He says the arrest of these men who were caught in various violent crimes which includes: armed robbery, kidnapping, rape, cultism and other allied criminal offences, was achieved as a result of the crime prevention strategy deployed by his officers and men which includes vehicular and foot patrols, surveillance, deployment of tactical teams in cities and major highways, traversing the state and linking other neighboring states namely: Lagos, Ogun, Lagos – Ogun boundary, Ondo – Ogun boundary, Oyo – Ogun Boundary, including the international border towns. This he adds has yielded positive results.

In line with the government’s directive to clamp down on rapist and rape activities he says that the command has taken it up as a serious offence to deal with any rapist, as it has successfully arrested Goddey Robinson Male 28 years old, for raping a lady (name withheld) on 22nd of April 2020, in a nearby bush where he dragged his victim at the Opic Area of Agbara. He strangled her believing she was dead and threw her body into a ditch about ten foot deep. The victim was rescued after she gained consciousness and the rapist apprehended on April 24th, 2020.

Other successful arrest he states were made from 6th to the 15th of June 2020, namely: Nojimu Ojelabi Male 40 years old and Kazeem Salami Male 41 years old who were arrested as suspected armed robbers in Soyeye area of Abeoukuta at a hideout. The SARS operatives stormed the armed robbery hideout and recovered the following weapons: one double barrel cut to size gun, one single barrel cut to size gun, one locally made pistol, twenty live cartridges, and assorted dangerous charms.

Sunkanmi Taajudeen Male, Ishola Samson Male, Sunday Akintunde Male he says were arrested as suspected armed robbers on the 7th of June as part of a syndicate terrorizing Mowe/ Ofada area. The arrest was made by the officer in charge of SARS who received information about the syndicate and their hideout located at Adeson area of Mowe, and the following arms were recovered: one locally made triple barrel pistol, one locally made single barreled pistol, thirteen live cartridges, and one Bajaj motorcycle for their operation.

Ismaila Adesanwo Male he says was arrested on 11th of June for suspected a murder crime he committed on the 24th of August 2018. One Mosunmola Ogunleye of No 4 Itoro Street, Ijebu – Igbo accused him of shooting her husband who died on the spot at her shop. Since then Ismaila Adesanwo has been on the run and on the wanted list of the Command. He was finally sighted and arrested at Ogijo.  

Yakubu Ayesoro Male 20 years, Idris Azees Male 23 years, he says were arrested for cultist activities on the 15th of June. He adds that upon information received on a bloody clash between two rival cult groups, the D.P.O of Igbesa led his men to the scene were the suspected cultists were arrested. The following weapons were recovered from them: 2 axes, one dagger laced with dangerous charms. The CP Kenneth Ebrimson assured the public that efforts are on top gear to get the other suspected cultist who fled the scene.

More arrest of suspected cultists he states were made on the 8th of June 2020. They are: Oriyomi Ayedun Male 34 years, Bello Sheriff Male 33 years, Odunayo Adesanya Male 27 years, Kehinde Adesanye Male 29 years, Ainonuga Ganiyu Male 19 years. The Command’s anti cultist team in conjunction with Iperu division made the arrest as a result of information gathered on some notorious cultists’ activities terrorizing Iperu and its environs. The following weapons were retrieved from them: one cutlass, one battle axe.

Lastly he mentions that on the 9th of June an ex-convict who should have repented after just being released from police custody by name Kehinde Shoboyede, was arrested as a robbery suspect by the Divisional Officer of Agbado Division for terrorizing Agbado and its environs. One cut to size locally made pistol, four live catridges and cone sharp knife were retrieved from his house.

The Commissioner of Police says that he appreciates the good people of Ogun State for cooperating with the police in releasing crucial and timely information which made these arrests possible. He further says that these dedicated lines 080871770416, 08081770419 are the police control numbers of the state and can be reached at any time for prompt action.

He beckons on the people of the state to make use of the complaint boxes and drop their complaints without adding their names and phone numbers, and also engage their D.P.O’s in dealing with any crime issue. He says that the PPRO of the State will promptly attend to it. He showed appreciation to the number one Chief Security Officer of the State, the Governor Mr Dapo Abiodun for cooperating with the police in ensuring that they have a smooth sail in carrying out their activities.

He also commends the efforts the Inspector General of Police Adamu Mohammed for his relentless backing in curbing crime in the state. He assures the people of Ogun State that they will begin to sleep with their two eyes closed as community policing is a mandate he must fulfil.
