Ahead of the party congress, a gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ahmed Ali Gulak, has asked those with “ill-gotten money” to steer clear for a free and fair primaries, adding that the party was not for sale. Gulak who stated this while launching his campaign at the PDP office in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, said those who have not contributed to the steady growth of the party in the past three years should not even contemplate using the party structures to launch their inordinate ambitions. “We will never allow a situation whereby some people with ill-gotten wealth would want to buy the party, such people should be told that PDP is not for sale to the highest bidder and that they should go and look elsewhere to satisfy their selfish agenda,” the aspirant stated. He added that: “Where were Kugama and his henchmen who nearly destroyed the PDP? But now that the party has been stabilised by well meaning people like Gulak, Dr. Bamanga Tukur, Chief Joel Madaki among others, he and other people who destroyed the party are trying to return to a house they defecated inside.” He said the governorship aspirants should not contemplate to stand for elections and should not force themselves on the party. On his governorship ambition, Gulak promised an all inclusive government if he is elected on the platform of the party in the October by-elections in the state, as he promised free education at all levels and jobs to the youths of the state. The state PDP Chairman, Chief Joel Madaki, who received Gulak, commended the role he (Gulak) played during the dark days of the PDP by ensuring that demigod like Alhaji Mijinyawa Umaru Kugama was pushed out of the party to pave way for a true democracy in PDP. Madaki also promised Gulak that the party State Working Committee (SWC) would ensure a free and fair process that would lead to the elections where all aspirants would be treated with outmost prudence and impartiality. He pointed out that: “The PDP will give all aspirants level playing ground to enable them meet the people and converse for votes without rancour. We as a party commend you Gulak for the role you and others played for the stability of the PDP, and the party will always be grateful to President Goodluck Jonathan who has remained resolute with the belief that the party has the ability not to disappoint when the need arise.” Madaki therefore called on all the aspirants to be at the PDP secretariat on Saturday for a special screening by the state chapter of the party.
