Troubled Nigeria Football Federation [NFF] has been restored back in office three weeks after he was removed.

The Nigeria sports minister, Tammy Danagogo, announced the return of Maigari to office to journalists in Abuja on Friday.

Danagogo explained that the NFF and other members of the football family in the country have agreed that Maigari should return to office.

Maigari is now expected to resume office as president of the NFF and will also preside over the elective congress billed to hold on August 26.

"He will resume to work as president of the NFF. Everyone, I mean all parties have agreed even before Fifa's letter came that he will return to office.

"Now we can look forward to a free and fair election [into the NFF board]," said the minister.

The decision to reinstate Maigari as president of the NFF comes just a day after Fifa wrote to the football federation asking it to return to status quo as it concerns its 13-man executive committee as composed before the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil.

Fifa also demanded that it wants Maigari to preside over the August 26 congress.

The reinstatement of Maigari brings to an end a long drawn tussle over the leadership of the apex football governing body in Nigeria.
