A leader of the Accord Party in Oyo State, Solomon Ayansina, has said that unity within the party will be translated to political victory in the 2015 governorship election in the state.

Ayansina spoke during an event organised in his honour by one of the party’s aspirants to the Oyo State House of Assembly, Mr. Jide Oke, in Ibadan, on Monday.

He said the party remained in pole position to win in the state because of its acceptance by the people, the leadership qualities of its elders and its internal democracy.

Ayansina said, “We should unite and work together for the progress of the party in the state and in Nigeria. Let us work towards all the strategies to win the 2015 election. If we want to succeed, there must be determination.

“This party is already popular among the people of the state but we must do more to retain their trust. Already, the leadership of the party has pointed the way to good governance with the way the party is organised.”

While describing Oke as a man who has the love of the people at heart, he called on the masses to vote for true representatives who would protect their interests.

He also said the party would not field candidates who would be interested in what they could gain from the party and not what they could offer the people.

“What he is doing today by bringing together members of the party is unique. There are some ungrateful and deceitful politicians whom we assisted in 2011 but they are nowhere to be found today, and we will not make such a mistake again,” he said.
