Students of Yaba College of Technology have appealed to the authorities of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, to release the corpse of a fellow student, Kotun Kayode Kazeem, who had died in the institution.

Kazeem, a student of Yaba Tech, was reportedly involved in a road accident on August 20 while commuting in a tricycle.

He was reportedly taken to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital Idi-Araba, where he allegedly died on September 9th, having been in a coma since the day of the accident.

A student who sent the report to The PUNCH social media page (name withheld) said Kazeem and his family had been unable to offset his hospital bill, following which the authorities of LUTH reportedly refused to release his body to his family for burial.

Kazeem was HND1 Banking & Finance student in the Faculty of Social Science.

While on admission in LUTH, his hospital bill had allegedly amounted to N800, 000, as the hospital had commenced his treatment without waiting for deposits or any form of payment.

Issues however arose when Kazeem’s family or friends could not offset his humongous hospital bill.

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the tertiary hospital, Mr. Otuneme, said he was not aware of the incident.
