A court in Ethiopia also known as the horn of Africa Nation has jailed a group of Muslims convicted of terrorism-related charges.

Ceoafrica gathered that the group which was first charged in 2014 and convicted last year were arrested three years ago over protests against alleged government interference in religious affairs group.

In August 2015, a court sentenced 18 Muslims, including clerics and a journalist, to up to 22 years in prison under controversial anti-terrorism legislation.

Ethiopia's government led by President Mulatu Teshome has often been accused of stifling dissent, an allegation the government has denied.
