APC members in Oyo state protest against planned supplementary election in Anambra state

Over 1,000 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State on Thursday marched to the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in protest over the plan to conduct supplementary election in Anambra State on Saturday.

The protest which started around 11am from the government secretariat was supervised by no fewer than 200 policemen with over 50 police trucks and two Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) to ensure peace and order.

It was led by the APC acting secretary in the state, Mojeed Olaoya who later submitted a letter to the INEC office to press home their demands.

The protesters who carried placards with inscriptions such as" Jega has failed Nigeria Jegado don't spoil your good name and cancel Anambra election, Anambra election: A day light robbery, No more credibility for Jega, among others.

The letter which was signed by Olaoya and addressed to the Oyo State Resident Electoral Commissioner, tittled" APC, Oyo State Condemned Another Supplementary Election stated
that the decision by INEC to conduct another supplementary election slated for the 30th November, 2013 in Anambra State is unequivocally condemned by the entire members of APC, Oyo State chapter.

It added that INEC’s incompetence to conduct a free and fair election in a state in Nigeria is not only embarrassing but portrays a big danger for 2015 general election.

The APC stated that INEC should be re-organized administratively in preparation for 2015 general election adding that the total election should be cancelled and a new gubernatorial election conducted in Anambra state.

The party stated that the peaceful protest is civil and believes that her disenchantment with INEC on the Anambra election is noted.
