DR Congo's President Joseph Kabila, whose second and last term officially ended yesterday, has defied calls for him to step down thereby announcing a new cabinet comprising of 74-team of ministers and deputy ministers.

According to ceoafrica, the cabinet formation which was announced shortly after midnight, is led by Sammy Badibanga, a former MP who had defected from the main opposition party, (Union for Democracy and Social Progress) UDPS led by Etienne Tshisekedi.

Moreso, Mr Badibanga was appointed prime minister last month by President Joseph Kabila under a deal brokered by the government with one faction of the opposition which has members of that faction feature in the new cabinet.

However, the main challenge for the new cabinet is to maintain security and keep the country together despite pressure mounted on Joseph Kabila to step down.
