Peterside to Deliver UNN Annual Lecture

The Director General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Rt. Hon. Dr Dakuku Adol Peterside has been selected to deliver this year’s University of Nigeria (UNN) Distinguished Persons Annual Lecture of the Faculty of Management.

According to a statement from the University and made available to CEOAfrica, the lecture is an annual academic event that provides an opportunity for outstanding persons in government positions to apprise and update the academia and the public at large of the vision, mission, and achievements in the national assignments under their charge. Hence, the DG of NIMASA will be sharing his thoughts on national reinvention and what the nation needs to put in place to attain greatness.

The lecture, which is titled “Connected Vision: Building Blocks of a New Nigeria, is scheduled to hold on Friday, November 25, 2016 at the UNN Enugu Campus and will bring together the academia, strategic managers, maritime experts, business students and general public who will deliberate on national issues and affairs of the country.

Over the years, the UNN Distinguished Persons Annual Lecture has been graced by eminent Nigerians including; His Majesty, Lamido Sanusi Lamido, the Emir of Kano and the former governor of the Central Bank; Chief Osita Chidoka, former Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps and former Minister of Aviation, among others.

In the statement, the University stated that inviting Dr Peterside to deliver the lecture was bringing to stage, “a management guru, a brain buried in books, an extra-ordinarily well-trained Nigerian, a rare gem yet simple and easy going but with “a promise” to the Nation.

The statement commended the achievements and contributions of Dr Peterside to the development of the agency, saying “since his appointment as the DG of NIMASA by President Muhammadu Buhari, Dr Peterside has brought a new narrative to the organization, effectively repositioning it for greater effectiveness and efficiency; and has been in the forefront generating more revenue to the Federal Government.

“Under his watch, NIMASA is gradually fulfilling its mandate of administering Maritime Safety Standards and Security, Maritime Labour, Shipping Regulation, Promotion of Commercial Shipping and enforcing Cobatage law, Pollution Prevention and Control in the marine environment, among others.”
