Nigerian Army donates educational materials to Chibok community

The Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC), 7 Division, Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Victor Ezugwu, has donated over 500 learning materials to pupils of Chibok community.

 The event took place at the Headquarters of the division in Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri on Thursday. In his remarks, the Ag GOC, who was represented by the Chief of Staff of the division, Brigadier General John Ochai, reminded the Chibok delegation that “education is the bedrock of any developed community.

"He used the medium to advise the delegation on the need to maximise the renewed peace in Chibok by encouraging their children and wards to return back to school.

General Ochai applauded Bolakrafts Care, New York and Mr Femi Owolabi (journalist), for their partnership with Nigerian Army in providing 7 Division with educational materials. The materials donated include school bags, textbooks, notebooks, mathematical sets, pens and pencils.In his remarks, the education secretary, Chibok Local Government,

Alhaji Mala Kyari, gave kudos to men of the Nigerian Army for the continuous selfless service to the nation and in particular the fight against insurgency in the north east. He said “no doubt the donation will revamp our educational system in Chibok.

"The secretary further stated that with the assistance of the Army, 13 schools in the community have been reopened with a total enrolment of 7534 students/pupils.Present at the event were principal staff officers of the division, chairman of All Progressive Party (APC), Chibok Mr Pogu Lawan, who led the Chibok delegation, Mr Femi Owolabi and other dignitaries from Chibok.
