The Secretary to the State Government during Senator Rashidi Ladoja’s tenure as Governor of Oyo State, Mr Ayodele Adigun, has bemoaned All Progressive Congress' government unfulfilled promises.
He made the statement during an exclusive interview with CEOAFRICA at his Akobo residence in Ibadan.
The pensioner and Accord party leader who served as a civil servant for 25 years lamented on the country’s economic woes, saying things have never been bad in the country and past or current government should not be blamed. "The current administration doesn’t have solid foundation for Nigeria’s development."
Commenting on the ongoing recession, Mr Adigun, said "the state of things is affecting everybody morally, physically and in terms of infrastructure. Companies have folded up due to power outage. The current administration slow pace in fixing the country is worrisome; pipeline vandalism in Niger Delta is wasting Nigeria’s resources monetarily.
"The Niger Delta is Nigeria’s wealth location and should not be joked with. Dialogue approach should be employed to put a final end to militancy in that region," he said.
Furthermore, concerning Oyo State, the former SSG decried workers plight and infrastructure, stressing that "things are now deplorable to the extent that companies are folding up. Creating additional LCDA’s will only worsen the situation not improve it.
“Workers haven’t been paid for months, education is in shambles, roads have become death traps, and yet, creation of LCDA’s became the order of the day? Where is the money to finance it?”
Mr Adigun admonished all stakeholders to work within their capacity, adding that local government election in Oyo State will be participated by all and sundry.
"This government has failed Nigerians. Promises were made without availability of resources. The local government election, if not rigged will favour Accord party," he assured.
