The Niger Delta Avengers on Sunday said it had adopted a conditional ceasefire to give way for the peace initiative being coordinated by Ijaw leader, Chief Edwin Clark, to succeed.
NDA said in a statement on its website issued by its spokesman, Mudoch Agbinibo, that it would suspend attacks on oil companies and their workers.

In the statement titled ‘The Pan-Niger Struggle,’ it, however, warned that it would conduct ‘asymetrical warfare" against security agencies and the All Progressives Congress if the harrassment and detention of innocent citizens of the region continues.
"We are going to continue the observation of our unannounced cessation of hostilities in the Niger Delta against all interests of multinational corporations. But we will continuously adopt asymmetrical warfare during this period if the Nigerian government and the political APC continue to use security agents/agencies to arrest, intimidate and harrass innocent citizens, suspected NDA members and invade especially Ijaw communities.

"We promise to fight more for the Niger Delta if this opportunity fails. Therefore, we will give our Niger Delta elders and genuine stakeholders tacit support in their dialogue with the government and the multinational oil companies whenever the enabling environment prevails," it stated.
It also warned interests allegedly using the Niger Delta strategy game for personal gain that their antics would fail.
