The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdul-Rasheed Akanbi, has blamed traditional rulers for the problems bedeviling society and urged the monarchs to pacify God to show mercy on the nation so as to enthrone peace and tranquility on the land.

In a chat with our correspondent at his palace in Iwo, Oba Akanbi said God mandated him to tell all the traditional rulers in the country to seek His face and intercede for their subjects to earn His blessings.

He maintained that the current misfortune of this country including the economic recession, insecurity and poverty were the result of the failure of the traditional rulers to play their role as mediator between their subjects and God.

The monarch who did not exempt himself insisted that the traditional rulers are the problems of the society and that the problem would persist until they changed their way of life and do the needful.

According to him, “we the traditional rulers are the problem of the society. We must depart from our ungodly ways, shun practices that tend to anger God and seek His blessing for the nation.”

“I’m not just saying this on my own. It’s a message that God asked me to deliver to the traditional ruler and if they listen and accede, this nation would not experience tribulation anymore”, the monarch said.

The Oluwo frowned that most traditional rulers do not know their rightful place and charges them to assert themselves and live up to the expectation so as to liberate the nation.
