The Oyo State Government will today Tuesday set up a joint committee with the organized labour in the state that will negotiate on all the demands of workers that led to the ongoing strike.

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) had directed workers in the state and local government employ in Oyo State to proceed on an indefinite strike on June 6, 2016 citing non-payment of salary arrears as the reason.

But the joint committee, which will comprise seven members each from both the government and labour, will be inaugurated today.

To be headed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alh Olalekan Ali, the committee will attend to all the demands of the organized labour, particularly salary arrears, and come up with solutions that are acceptable to both sides.

The Deputy National President of the NLC, Comrade Adeyemi, will lead the labour team.

Currently, the labour and government operate on the agreement of servicing salaries with  100 per cent of federal allocation coming to the state. But payment has not been regular due to dwindling federal allocation.
